Q: Where do you purchase your fabrics?
A: Fabrics for my work are purchased all over the place, but primarily through CR's Crafts, Howl Fabrics, Fabric.com. Mendels, and local fabric stores.
Q: Are your products vegan?
A: All fursuits, costumes, and accessories are 100% vegan! I do not use animal products on my work, and if I ever did it would be stated clearly.
Q: I have an animal allergy. Should I commission you?
A: I live in a cat and dog friendly home. While I keep them separated from my workspace, things like dander can still float in. I would not suggest commissioning me if you have a severe allergy.
Q: How do you make <insert anything>?
A: I got started by using wonderful tutorials provided by http://matrices.net/ and https://fursuit.livejournal.com/. If these do not help, try Google. Many makers have wonderful tutorials for free or to purchase for a small fee. I wish I could answer this question to everyone who asked, but I lack the time.
Q: Do you use parts provided by other makers?
A: Yes I do! When clients request resin and/or silicone parts, I usually seek other fursuit makers for these products such as DreamVisionCreations or StuffedPandaStudios. I am happy to use bases from other makers, whether it be ordering it myself or it provided by the client.
Q: How do I wash my costume from you?
A: Everything but the head is machine washable, cold water ONLY and air dry. Most detergents are fine, I personally use Woolite. Heads are spot clean, or can be hand washed following most fursuit washing tutorials. The key thing is to not use warm/hot water and do NOT use a dryer. Dryers with no heat settings may work but take caution.
Q: What's a DTD?
A: A DTD, or duct tape dummy, is a tape replica of your body that I can build fitted bodysuits tailored to you off of without having you in the shop! They're required for any commission involving a bodysuit, and aren't hard to make. You can learn how to make your own here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=coradGn8wNY
Q: What should my reference sheet show?
A: Reference sheets should show at minimum a front and back view of the character and any small details that may be missed. An additional third view (side shot) is extremely welcome but not required. Reference sheets should be flat colors ONLY and have no shading. A good example of a fursuit reference sheet can be viewed below (NOTE: Characters belong to their respective owners, art by CandyCiqarettes/8AM):
Q: Can I pick up my commission when it's done?
A: I do offer at con pickup for clients who are attending the same convention as I am and their suit is done by the con. For non-convention pickup, it can be discussed. Note that 8AM Costumes is based in St. Louis, Missouri when wanting pickup!
Q: Can I pay extra to get a rush commission or a sooner due date?
A: No. It's not fair to other clients or you, as a rushed suit is never as good as one that had time spent on it.
Q: Can you mimic this style?
A: I do not replicate other makers styles. I am happy to match your art or a theme, but I do not mimic other fursuit maker styles.
Q: I'm under 18 but want a commission, how do I do that?
A: If you are under 18, I will need a parent or guardian to contact me and discuss payments, as well as agree to my terms of service before commissioning. This is for legal reasons and to ensure no trouble may possibly happen.
Q: Are your fursuit heads glasses friendly?
A: They are! I can't see a foot in front of me without glasses and I'm unable to wear contacts. By default all of my fursuit heads accommodate for glasses unless otherwise stated. If you don't wear glasses then you get the comfort and ventilation without glasses in the way!
Q: I had a question that was not answered on here!
A: Did you read my terms of service? There are questions answered in it! If you cannot find it on there or through here, you can email me and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
